Big and trumpeting and with a chant like a spell: I feel better, better, better than before.
Sometimes now when I walk down the sidewalk I smile at nothing in particular and everyone looks at me like I’m the two-headed boy you pay $5 a ticket to see at the circus. I am excited about change: new work, new season, new prospects all around. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love fall because it feels like anything is possible. Like love is right around the corner—in the neighboring deli, on a park bench, across the table—the rush and flurry of everything just lifting, blooming like lungs.
